Dr. Mahesh R. Patel, M.D. is Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology with Added Qualification in Neuroradiology and formerly an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School. He earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Physics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, graduating summa cum laude, before receiving his Doctor of Medicine from Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Patel completed his medical internship at Carney Hospital in Boston, followed by residency training in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Connecticut Health Center and Tufts University New England Medical Center. He subsequently completed fellowship training in Cross-Sectional Imaging and Mammography at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Patel maintains board certification with the American Board of Radiology, including Maintenance of Certification in Neuroradiology, and is licensed in multiple states. His clinical expertise includes full-scope diagnostic radiology with emphasis on MRI, CT, and advanced neuroimaging. He subspecializes in disorders of the brain and spine, with particular interest in trauma, epilepsy, cerebrovascular disease, infectious processes, and neoplastic conditions of the central nervous system. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Patel has made substantial contributions to academic radiology. He has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and invited lectures, and has served as a manuscript reviewer and editorial board member for leading radiology journals. His research interests include functional neuroimaging, MR angiography, and advanced imaging techniques, and he has received research funding from the Radiological Society of North America.
